Before You Light: Set up your space

Choose the Right Space

Choose a flat, open area away from buildings, dry grass, and trees.

Keep Water Nearby

Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby, plus a bucket for used fireworks.

Create a Safe Launch Zone

Have a clear launch zone and keep spectators well back.

Lighting Fireworks Safely

One Person at a Time

Only one person lights fireworks; everyone else watches from a distance.

Light and Step Away

Light one item at a time, then step away quickly.

Never Hold Unsafe Fireworks

Never hold a firework in your hand unless it’s designed for it, like a handheld sparkler.
